Men on meth during shooting death

Tracy, CA - A Tracy man on Wednesday was convicted of voluntary manslaughter for shooting a friend to death after the two went frog hunting two years ago in Contra Costa County.

Jared Alger, 30, of Tracy, could spend more than 20 years in state prison for shooting to death his friend Steve Goodmanson, 40, on Aug. 27, 2006.

Meth use down among teens, other crimes rise

Clay Center, KS - Abuse of methamphetamine is decreasing among the younger teens in Clay Center, but police are seeing more crimes related to the economy, according to Police Chief Bill Robinson.

Describing the state of crime in the city last year before those attending a recent Chamber "State of the City" forum, Robinson said law enforcement has seen a "big" decrease in the number of burglaries and thefts in the community but an increase in financial crimes.

Jail time for man who hid drugs underneath baby

Butte, MT - A Butte man has been sentenced to three years to the Montana Department of Corrections for charges stemming from an incident where drug paraphernalia and bags containing methamphetamine residue where discovered hidden under a six- month-old baby.

Trent Doyle, 32, appeared before Butte District Judge Kurt Krueger Thursday morning for sentencing.
