Customs catches meth smuggler with baby in car
Brownsville, TX - A 19-year old Houston woman was arrested by Customs and Border Protection for allegedly trying to smuggle two pounds of methamphetamines across the Gateway International Bridge on Tuesday with her infant son in the car.
Janelle Marlene Huerta was charged with possession of a controlled substance with intent to distribute, court documents show.
More arraignments in 10-member meth ring
London, KY - Two more members of an alleged 10-person conspiracy to make and sell methamphetamine in Laurel and Knox counties have been arraigned in U.S. District Court in London.
Cleve D. Smith and Mark E. Smith were arraigned Tuesday.
The trial, originally set for next Monday, has been reset for Oct. 19.
Man uses gas tank to conceal drugs
Omaha, NE - A 60-year-old California man was arrested and 13 pounds of crystal methamphetamine confiscated during a traffic stop Wednesday on Interstate 80 in Omaha.
The Douglas County Sheriff's Department K-9 Unit stopped an SUV on I-80 near 96th Street for a traffic violation. After a dog sniffed out the meth, deputies found packages floating in the gas tank.
It has an estimated street value of $150,000.
