Opinion: Meth use, bad loans paint picture of failed WaMu
Reckless American home buyers and lax federal regulation deserve a healthy share of the responsibility for the international credit crisis. But there’s no calculating the blame that belongs to reckless mortgage lenders.

Woman charged with murder was possibly on meth
EL PASO COUNTY - The woman accused of shooting and killing her sister's boyfriend was officially charged with First Degree murder Monday morning.
Investigators with the El Paso County Sheriff's Office say 28-year-old Denise Presson shot Victor San Miguel point blank in the chest on December 18th. According to an arrest affidavit, she felt he was abusing her 12-year-old nephew, but the nephew told deputies there was no abuse.
Couple busted twice in one month
A husband and wife arrested earlier this month for producing methamphetamine were charged again over the weekend with cooking up the drug, authorities said Monday.
Lee and Stacey Box were arrested at the home of Robert "Porky" Ladnier in Helena on Sunday as the couple tried to flush a meth lab down the toilet and bathtub, said Curtis Spiers, commander of the Narcotics Task Force of Jackson County.
Pets near meth lab quarantined
LONGMONT, Colo. -- Longmont police evacuated a six unit apartment building Friday after tests conducted by the Boulder County Health Department showed contamination from a suspected meth lab had seeped into the entire building.
That contamination forced several tenants out of their homes and led police to quarantine seven pets.
